This part time evening and weekend program will give you the training you need to gain employment in an office. You can continue to work while studying. In Semester Three, learn Microsoft Word to create business documents, and PowerPoint to make a presentation. Learn how to communicate professionally and effectively, and develop the office skills needed to be successful in a business environment.
SEMESTER THREE AGENDA
Course 1: Word Processing
April 7 – May 7, 2020 / 48 hours
Microsoft Word is used worldwide to create business documents. Knowledge in this application is absolutely essential to any administrative assistant. This course will make you highly proficient in using the software. You will be able to create letters, memos, reports, and tables. You will be able to use Word for desktop publishing, creating brochures, newsletters, calendars, cards, invitations and more.
Course 2: Communication and Office Skills
May 10 – June 18, 2020 / 48 hours
The focus of this course is to develop positive, professional and effective communications skills necessary for employment in a business environment. Techniques will be presented to improve your ability in oral communications among peers, clients and managers. You will have skills to resolve interpersonal or work assignment conflicts. You will develop knowledge and skills related to your image, confidentiality, and accountability. You will learn to make and deliver a presentation using presentation software, PowerPoint.
You will use Outlook to set up and manage meetings and know how to take and record minutes to support your boss and also how to participate as a member in meetings. You will develop knowledge for planning events or conferences.
Techniques will be presented to improve a student’s ability to meet deadlines and manage time and to prioritize workloads.
Work Practicum (optional):
To be scheduled upon completion of the first 6 courses / 120 hours
The work practicum is optional. This practicum enables students to gain experience in an office setting. You will apply, develop and demonstrate your knowledge and skills in an office environment in a three week period.
If students choose not to do the practicum, this will not affect their marks or their ability to pass and receive their certificate. These students will be given a special project to complete in lieu of the practicum.
The total cost of this course is $3,250. The payment schedule is as follows:
- A Non-refundable deposit of $300 is required at the time of registration. Pay your deposit by registering for Course #T04-F19.
- $1,006 is due on or before September 4 for Semester 1. Pay for Semester 1 by registering for Course #T04.1-F19.
- $972 is due on or before November 15 for Semester 2. Pay for Semester 2 by registering for Course #T04.2-F19.
- $972 is due on or before February 15 for Semester 3. Pay for Semester 3 by registering for Course #T04.3-F19
Students must complete all 3 semesters to receive their Certificate.

To register for the Certificate Program, please register first for Courses T04-F19 ($300 deposit), T04.1-F19 ($1,006 first installment payment) and T04.2-F19 ($972 second installment payment) . The final installment payment of $972 is paid when registering for T04.3-F19.
Sunday classes will run in Semester 3 on April 12, 26 and May 10.
