This part time evening and weekend program will give you the training you need to gain employment in an office. You can continue to work while studying. In Semester Three, develop the office skills and procedures needed to be successful in a business environment. Learn how to communicate professionally and effectively. Learn to make and deliver a presentation using PowerPoint.
SEMESTER THREE AGENDA
Course 1: Office Procedures and Equipment
April 7 – May 10, 2020 / Hours 48 / Tuesday and Thursday Evenings and select Sundays
Office Procedures covers the typical skills required of Administrative Assistants in the day to day management of an office. Students will learn courteous and efficient telephone and reception techniques. You will learn to greet and deal with clients and book appointments. You will study filing techniques for both paper and electronic filing and records management, mail handling duties and office supply ordering and inventory. Travel planning for the executive is covered.
Course 2: Communication and Office Skills
May 12 – June 23, 2020 / 48 hours / Tuesday and Thursday Evenings and select Sundays
The focus of this course is to develop positive, professional and effective communications skills necessary for employment in a business environment. Techniques will be presented to improve your ability in oral communications among peers, clients and managers. You will have skills to resolve interpersonal or work assignment conflicts. You will develop knowledge and skills related to your image, confidentiality, and accountability. You will learn to make and deliver a presentation using presentation software, PowerPoint.
You will use Outlook to set up and manage meetings and know how to take and record minutes to support your boss and also how to participate as a member in meetings. You will develop knowledge for planning events or conferences.
Techniques will be presented to improve a student’s ability to meet deadlines and manage time and to prioritize workloads.
The total cost of this course is $3,250. The payment schedule is as follows:
- A Non-refundable deposit of $300 is required at the time of registration. Pay your deposit by registering for Course #T04-w20.
- $984 is due on or before January 6/2020 for Semester 2. Semester 2 starts January 7/2020. Pay for Semester 2 by registering for Course #T04.2-F19.
- $982 is due on or before March 10/2020 for Semester 3. Semester 3 starts April 7/2020. Pay for Semester 3 by registering for Course #T04.3-F19.
- $984 is due on or before September 2/2020 for Semester 1. Semester 1 starts September 15/2020. Pay for Semester 1 by registering for Course #T04.1-F20.
Students must complete all 3 semesters to receive their Certificate.

To register for the Certificate Program, please register first for Courses T04-W20 with a $300 deposit. Then register for Course #T04.2-F19 (Semester 2 / $984 first installment payment) and course #T04.3-F19 (Semester 3 / $982 second installment payment). The final installment payment of $984 is paid when registering for Course #T04.1-F20 / Semester 1.
Sunday classes will run in Semester 3 on April 19, 26, May 10, 24 and 31.
